Review of the WPT Season 2 DVD Set
World Poker Tour Season Two DVD Set
from SHOUT! Factory
This eight-disk DVD set contains 14 episodes from the 2003-2004 World Poker Tour. Each disk contains two episodes of
about 1 hour and twenty-five minutes in length. There are no commercials and, except for Disk 8, there are no 'extra'
features included. It's the exact same show that you see on television.
Four of the games contain a voice-over commentary by either Daniel Negreanu and Erick Lindgren or by Antonio Esfardiari
and Phil Laak (The Unabomber). Some of the commentaries are extremely interesting because they offer an inside view as to
why a hand was played a certain way and why a decision was made. I really enjoyed the discussions about the amount of bets
and the repercussions of the bet on further betting rounds in the hand.
Watching, and re-watching these DVD's over and over again will probably help your poker game more than most poker
books will. Keep in mind that the play of these professionals is much better than what you will find at any home
game! Don't expect your average home poker player to play at the same skill level.
The price of the 8-disk WPT Season 2 DVD Set is $60. You get over 20 hours of live poker play and another hour of extra
features on disk 8 ... a good deal for the money!

This is one of the best WPT episodes! It quickly becomes a three-way contest between
Hansen, Negreanu and Corkins, three of the more exciting poker players to watch. The voice-over commentary by Lindgren and
Negreanu is very good, they give a lot of insight into why hands were played a certain way. You can learn quite a bit
about poker strategy from watching videos such as this.
Binion's World Poker Open - Tunica , MS
Tony Hartman, Can Kim Hua, Barry Greenstein, Chip Reese, James Tippin, Randy Jensen
Commerce Casino's L.A. Poker Classic - Los Angeles, CA

The voice-over commentary by Esfandiari and Laak is good. They get into specifics about many of the hands that are played.
WPT Celebrity Invitational - Los Angeles, CA
Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Harry Demetriou, Joe Cassidy, Humberto
Brenes, John Juanda
Commentary by Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak
This is the game where Phil (The Unabomber) Laak goes a little ... crazy! You'll either love it or hate
it. The voice-over commentary is not quite as good as the others. It seems that even The Unabomber himself can't explain
all his actions and thoughts!
San Jose's Bay 101 Shooting Stars of Poker - San Jose, CA
Suzie Kim, Mark Mache, Scott Wilson, Chris Moneymaker, Masoud Shojaei, Phil Gordon
Cruisin' Mexico with the Party Poker Million - Mexican Riviera Cruise
Barry Greenstein, Scotty Nguyen, Steve Zolotow, Daniel Negreanu, Erick
Lindgren, Chris Hinchcliffe
Commentary by Erick Lindgren and Daniel Negreanu.
This is a limit, as opposed to a no-limit, game.
Reno Hilton's World Poker Challenge - Reno, NV
Young Phan, Pete Muller, Tony Bloom, Harry Knapp, Michael Kinney, Paul Clark
World Poker Tour Championship - Las Vegas, NV
Steve Brecher, Russell Rosenblum, Hasan Habib, Richard Grijalva, Matt Matros, Martin de Knijff
The highlight of this disk is the Expanded Poker Corner. Mike Sexton, Daniel
Negreanu, Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth review the play of the final table of the WPT Championship game. They discuss some
of the more important hands in the game and give insight and criticism into each players decisions.
They seem to agree on very little but this is a very interesting segment.
There are also some normal length Poker Corner's (a minute or two) and some player
profiles on this disk. In general, it's all stuff you've already seen in the normal episodes.
