Aviator Playing Cards Review

Aviator cards had the most vibrant colors of all the paper cards, almost as nice as a Royal plastic card. These cards were the most slippery of all the paper cards and had the most shine to them. They lacked the vertical and horizontal lines of other paper cards.

These were, by far, the thinnest and lightest of all the cards. They didn't really feel any worse for it. They felt nice for a paper card, a bit slicker than others.

The thickness of all 52 playing cards was 12.72mm. Ten cards weighed 14.0 grams.

Bee Playing Cards Review

The Bee 'Club Special' cards are plastic coated paper cards. This style has no border on the back, giving it a bit of an old-west look. They have the most prominent cross-hatch texture (little lines) of all the cards that I review. Bee's are slightly more expensive and don't last quite as long as Bicycles, but they are a little higher quality. I'm not sure why, there's just something about them that I cannot put my finger on. They seem a bit heavier and thicker than the Bicycle cards, but not by much.

The thickness of all 52 playing cards was 15.25mm. Ten cards weighed 16.0 grams.

These may be the most popular cards used in North American homes. They are available for sale in many places, including the check-out line at your local grocery store. You can also buy them by the dozen at many outlet stores such as Target, Sam's, or Costco. Depending on how many you buy, you can get them for a buck or two per deck.

These are a paper card coated in plastic. They have a cross-hatch texture (little lines) but not as pronounced as the Bee cards. They feel fine at first but quickly deteriorate during play.

These are a paper card and will last only a tournament or two before they become unusable and need to be replaced with a new deck. They cannot be washed when they become dirty and sticky. It is also easy for players to mark these cards - indent a fingernail into the corner of an ace and gain an advantage over the other players.

The thickness of all 52 playing cards was 15.15mm. Ten cards weighed 15.5 grams.

Caesars Palace

These cards are plastic, not paper. They are poker size, regular index playing cards from Caesars Palace Casino. The back design features numerous images of Julius Caesar, the kings and jacks are Romans, and the queens are Cleopatra. These are new cards that have not been used in a casino. They are more of a collectible than a deck that is good for playing poker.

These cards are very stiff and sticky, right out of the box. It is very unpleasant to shuffle the deck because the cards are so sticky - it is hard to deal for the same reason. I couldn't see anyone using these cards for more than a couple minutes.

A couple of the backs had small imperfections such as bubbles or smudges that would be visible to an observant poker player. Some of the faces also had imperfections but the imperfections on the back of the cards meant the deck was unusable right out of the box. In addition, the full bleed graphics (no border) means that these cards will probably not last long - it is only a matter of time before a card edge chips, making the entire deck unusable.

There are fifty-two cards, two jokers, and one Caesars Palace advertising card in each deck. They are available in two-deck setups - one gold back and one black back. They come in single-deck cardboard boxes that are themselves contained within a larger cardboard box (without a lid). The cards are made in China.

The cost is about $10 per deck. March 2013

Paulson Playing Cards

These Paul-son paper cards are ... unique. Different decks have different designs and backs, depending on the casino that the cards were manufactured for. They are paper cards and lack any distinguishing features ... just another paper card. Those black markings in the two corners of the second card are not a misprint - they are Black Jack cards and the markings are used by the dealer's card reader to determine whether or not the dealer has made a 21.

World Poker Tour Playing Cards Review

These are Bee 92 playing cards with a custom World Poker Tour logo on the back. They are available in black or white with the large WPT logo or in a diamond back with a smaller logo. Except for the WPT logo, these cards are identical to the coated-plastic (paper) Bee 92 cards.

The thickness of all 52 playing cards was 14.55 mm. Ten cards weighed 16.0 grams.

World Series of Poker Playing Cards Review

The WSOP Playing Cards are a paper card somewhat similar to the Bicycle cards but with much less texture. These cards do not have the vertical and horizontal lines that the Bee's and Bicycles have. There appears to be much less plastic on these cards and they feel a bit more sturdy than other paper cards. The backs on these cards are nice, probably the nicest of all the paper cards.

The thickness of all 52 playing cards was 14.90mm. Ten cards weighed 15.0 grams.
