ABC Gifts and Awards Poker Chip Reviews

These very colorful ceramic poker chips have the words 'High Stakes Poker' and the denomination in numerals (with a dollar sign) is printed on the rolling edge of the chip. The face of the chip somewhat resembles a peacock design. It is a bit busy but works overall - there is a very nice blending of colors. There are no edge spots on this chip, either on the face or the rolling edge.

Sample diameters were 39.13, 39.21, 39.13, 39.15, 39.20, 39.22, 39.16, 39.16, 39.18, and 39.20mm. Ten chips stacked together was 33.04mm high (3.3mm per chip). Sample weights were 9.76, 9.82, 9.75, 9.90, 9.77, 9.82, 9.68, 9.70, 9.78, and 9.94 grams.

Stock High Stakes poker chips are 69 cents each with a minimum order of 50 chips. You can also order these chips with your own customized words instead of the words "High Stakes Poker". Production time for customized chips is about two weeks and the cost is 79 cents per chip (minimum order is 25 chips of any one denomination and 100 chips in total).

These chips were designed for ABC Gifts and represent what might have been produced for a casino in the Dominican Republic. The words 'Palmas Resort Casino' and the denomination in numerals (with a dollar sign) are printed on the rolling edge of the chip.

You can order these chips with your own customized words instead of the words "High Stakes Poker". Production time for customized chips is about two weeks and the cost is 69 cents per chip. There is a minimum order of 100 chips with a minimum of 25 chips per denomination/style.

There are also some $8 Palmas Limited Edition 2009 Chinese Year of the Ox Palmas chips available for $1.99. Each of these chips has an etched serial number on the face of the chip.

Sample diameters were 39.26, 39.06, 39.24, 39.12, 39.21, 39.17, 39.18, 39.27, and 39.24mm. Ten chips stacked together was 29.72mm high (3.3mm per chip). Sample weights were 9.78, 9.85, 9.84, 9.84, 9.74, 9.83, 9.84, 9.74, and 9.74 grams.

These chips are an in-house version of the custom chips that are available through ABC Gifts and Awards and are reviewed below. They are a ceramic chip that is available in a smooth or rough texture. The chips look a little nicer (finer) that what is shown in these scanned images. There 11 different chips - 9 denominations, an NCV chip, and a bounty chip. It is very easy to differentiate between the different denominations.

These poker chips are available with a smooth face or a textured face. The smooth face resembles a Chipco chip. The textured face is not really much rougher, and is nowhere near the rough texture of a Nevada Jack/Desert Sands composite chip. The smooth chip was a bit shinier than the textured chip, the light reflected off it more.

These chips have multi-colored edge spots. The denomination is printed on each spot and there are diamonds between the spots. The seam between the rolling edge and the face of the chip is almost unnoticeable - it is much better than a Chipco poker chip. In addition, there is no white outer border on these chips, as there is on the Chipco chips. There are no edge ridges.

Sample diameters were 39.23, 39.35, 39.29, 39.22, 39.27, 39.31, 39.23, and 39.32mm. Ten chips stacked together was 33.91mm thick. Sample weights were 10.08, 10.27, 10.10, 10.02. 10.08, 10.10, 10.09, and 10.15 grams. The chips stack well and are not slippery. They sound like a typical ceramic poker chip.

There is also a ceramic drink coaster available for this poker chip set. The image shown to the right is at half-size, the full-size coaster is shown on the Dealer Buttons page. The coaster is 88.3mm (3.5") in diameter, 7.75mm (.3") thick, and weighs about 90 grams. The coaster may also be used as a dealer button. It has a good weight and feel to it. The price is $25 for a set of four coasters, or $9 each. There is also a Pharaoh's set of coasters to match the Pharaoh's or Egyptian poker chip sets.

These are nice chips and you can create a unique poker chip set that includes bounty chips, coasters, dealer buttons, and your own custom made winners chips or awards.

These are customizable ceramic poker chips that are available from ABC Gifts and Awards. You can order these chips with a smooth face or a textured face. The smooth face resembles a Chipco chip. The textured face is not really much rougher, and is nowhere near the rough texture of a Nevada Jacks composite chip. Each side of the chip can have a different design printed on it and the graphics may be printed up to the extreme edge of the chip. This differentiates these chips from other ceramic chips that have a white border around the edge on the face of the chip.

Multi-color edge spots, edge text, diamonds, and stripes are all available. These chips feature aligned edge spots. There is a good photo of aligned vs. non-aligned edge spots where you can see the big difference that this feature makes in a poker chip. Unfortunately, there is an extra charge for this feature, but it is not even available for most other customized ceramic poker chips.

You can order as many custom poker chips as you want. The pricing depends on the quantity ordered - $3.29 for 1 chip (yes, you can order only 1 chip!), 84� per chip for 500, and 76� per chip for 1000. There is no set up fee or artwork charge. There is no charge to have different designs on each side of the chip.
