These are plastic poker chips with a mother of pearl finish. The surface is rather shiny and the mother of pearl finish gives the chip a bit of a holographic look, especially when viewed at an angle.

There are ten chips in non-standard color denominations from 50 to 500, and a 'POT' chip. The denominations are printed in white, no matter what the base color of the chip, and are slightly recessed (engraved) into the chip meaning that they should never wear away. It is a bit hard to read on some of the chips when viewed from an angle.

They weigh 5.25 grams as opposed to a typical clay chip at 9-10 grams. The chips sound similar to a 7 or 8 gram diamond poker chip. They are rather slippery (plastic chips) but they don't stack all that bad. There is a slightly rough texture to the area around the words "Dal Negro" and this helps take away some of the slickness of the chip. The chips are a little hard to lift from the table due to their very rounded edges.

Sample weights were 5.06, 5.14, 5.06, 5.31, 5.26, 5.18, 5.23, 5.12, 5.15, 5.31, and 5.27 grams. Sample diameters were 40.27, 40.12, 39.93, 39.97, 40.05, 40.03, 40.13, 40.03, 40.33, 40.01, and 40.24mm. Eleven chips stacked together was 39.58mm high.

These chips cost $2.33 per chip if you purchase 300 chips. The gift set also includes a briar root case and two decks of plastic-coated (paper) playing cards. This is definitely a poker chip set for the connoisseur or collector.

These are very nice Dal Negro Deluxe plaques. They are much larger, heavier, and substantial than the Dal Negro poker chip plaques reviewed below. The scanned images shown to the left are almost the exact same size as the real plaques.

The Dal Negro plaques have a pearlized plastic finish and are also available in slightly different color variations than what is shown here. The denominations are somewhat hard to read on the 100 and 500 plaques, and very hard to read on the 1000 plaque. The pearlized finish includes glitter, making the chips even harder to read under bright lights.

These plaques have that perfect clacking sound to them. They feel good in your hands and can be quite addictive. They are the best handling poker chip plaques that I have reviewed.

The plaques are thick enough so that you can easily pick up a single plaque from the table. There are raised borders around the perimeter of each plaque (a recessed center). The width of the border is 8.5mm on the 100 plaque and 13mm on the 500 and 1000 plaques. There is no front or back of the plaque, both sides are identical.

The 100 plaque is 67.3 x 48 x 6.35mm and weighs 23 grams. The 500 plaque is 64.25 x 65.5 x 6.35mm and weighs 35 grams. The 1000 plaque is 94.25 x 65.75 x 6.35mm and weighs 45 grams.

These are the nicest plaques that I have reviewed to date. They have a nice feel, shape, and weight. They have that perfect clack sound when they are stacked together. The denominations are hard to read but these plaques make such an impact that everyone will quickly remember the assigned values.

Compared to The Egyptians 5000 plaque (one of my favorite poker chip syles!), these Dal Negro plaques are much heavier and thicker and have a more plastic feel to them whereas The Egyptians plaques have more of a ceramic feel. I prefer the design on The Egyptians but the Dal Negro plaques feel much better. The Dal Negro plaques also have more of a traditional clack sound.

The Dal Negro 100 plaque costs $8.99 and the other two Dal Negro plaques are $9.99. There are several different color variations of the plaques than what is shown here.

Plaque Plaque These are plastic chips and plaques manufactured for Dal Negro. They have a Mother-of-Pearl finish, are very light-weight and have a very plastic feel and sound to them. These are the types of chips that have been traditionally used in Europe for decades and will have an unfamiliar feel to most North American's. There is interest in the poker community for rectangular poker chips, or plaques as they are commonly known in Europe, especially in the higher denominations (1000, 5000,10000). Unfortunately, these Dal Negro plaques come with a maximum denomination of 500.

The chips are hot stamped with denominations and the words "Dal Negro" and come in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 200, and 500. The 100, 200, and 500 denomination chips are in the rectangular shape. The denominations are printed on only one side of the chip.

The round chips weighed 3.5grams each. The 100 and 200-denomination rectangular plaques weigh 6.5 grams each and the larger 500-denomination plaques weigh 9 grams each. The chips are 3mm thick. Sample diameters were 34.31, 33.78, 33.98, 33.47, 34.35, and 34.19mm. The 500-denomination plaque is 73.5mm wide and 34mm in height. The 100 and 200-denomination plaques are 53mm in width and 34mm in height.
