These Bud Jones poker chips feature the Mullet Bay Casino logo on a nice metal inlay. Even with the metal inlay, they only
weigh 13 grams. They have a definite metallic ring to them but feel very nice overall. They have a bit more of a rubbery
feel to them than other composite metal inlay chips.
It was almost impossible to scratch the metal with a knife. The inlay is one solid piece that is embedded into the
plastic molding and cannot be removed without intentionally ruining the chip. The composite is a little better than a typical
composite chip and there is a feeling of quality to this chip. The colors are very deep and scratching with a knife resulted
in little visible damage.
There are four edge spots on each chip. There are small bars on the rolling between each edge spot. This looks better than
it does on most chips with this feature. The overall effect of the edge spots with suits on them is nice. There are two versions
available of the red and green chips, striped or solid edge spots. There are no edge ridges on this chip. There is no injection
mold spot that I could see.
I was sent 5 sample chips. Diameters were 39.39, 39.49, 39.33, 39.55, and 39.43mm. Five chips stacked together is 16.60mm thick.
This is a very nice chip, probably the nicest of the metal inlay chips. It's not that the design is so great, it's the overall
feel and quality of the chip. They should feel like quality, they cost $2 per chip ... and you can only buy them in sets of 500
chips. July 2005
These are T.R. King chips with a custom label exclusive to
Ace Poker Chip Company. They are very nice chips and rank up there in quality with Paulson and ASM poker chips. They stack
and stick very well and they sound perfect. They are perfect weight and feel excellent in your hands. The quality of the
craftsmanship is obvious, each chip is very consistent.
I could not peel the label off this chip, even with a knife. Stabbing and slicing the label left surprisingly little damage.
Scratching the clay left a slight mark that would blend in over time. Unlike the TR King King's Crown
chips, the labels on these chips were fairly well centered.
These chips had some of the sharpest edges of all the chips I received. This is an indication of the high quality of the
construction rather than a problem. These chips are somewhat shiny and chiseled when new but will soften up over time, they
will take some breaking-in but they will last a couple of lifetimes. They stack very well.
The edge spots are different on every denomination. Most chips have three, four, or five one-color edge spots but the $1000
chip has four bi-color edge spots. The base colors of the chips, and the colors of the edge spots is excellent. There are very
slight ridges on the edge of this chip.
I was sent numerous samples of this chip. Sample diameters were 38.47, 38.51, 38.51, 38.50, 38.41, 38.60, and 38.55mm. This
is slightly smaller than the usual 39.xx mm chip. Three chip stacked together was 9.78mm thick, again, slightly smaller than
usual. Seven chips stacked together was 22.66mm thick.
Pricing and availability has not yet been announced for these chips. They are expected to start being shipped out in mid May
2005. These are nice chips. I always liked the King's Crown chips but the labels are always way off center. These Rounders chips
don't have that same problem. The quality of the clay and the label is excellent and these are some of the best chips you can buy.

These are the real deal! Genuine Paulson Top Hat & Cane
chips that look and feel exactly like casino chips ... because
they are casino chips! The sound and feel of these chips far surpass any other home poker chip. Riffling a stack of these
babies is a thing of beauty, the only other chip that even comes close are several Blue Chip Company chips such as the James
Bond chip. The Paulson chips have a much more robust sound and feel than any other poker chip. There is just something
substantial about a Paulson chip and it has a distinctive sound that reminds you of a casino.
The multi-color edge spots vary between denominations. The .50 chip has no edge spots and is printed on a different mold.
The $2 chip has two one-color edge spots, and the other denominations have three or four multi-colored edge spots. The spots
are beautiful and contrast perfectly with the base color of the chip. There are no edge ridges.
I was sent 3 sample chips. The diameters were 39.11, 39.15, and 39.06mm. The thickness of 3 chips stacked together was 10.05mm.
There is a $20 denomination chip rather than the more standard $25 chip. There is no chip (that is easily available) larger
than $100. The $100 chip is 43mm in diameter rather than the usual 39mm, meaning that you will need special racks/trays for these
chips. The chip colors are also non-standard.
The inlay feels a little slick at first but will soften with age. Everything about this chip will get better with age. The
inlay could not be peeled off in any way. They hid scratches well and I had to gouge deep to reveal the base chip color. There
are denominations printed on the chip.
If you've got the money, these may be some of the best poker chips you can buy. They are the real McCoy! After you handle these
babies for a while, you'll never go back to a non-casino quality chip!

These chips are printed on the ASM horse head mold
and have a traditional look, weight, and feel to them. The colors are
excellent, bright but not too bright, with perfectly contrasting one-color edge spots. Horse heads feel like quality. They
feel very uniform, as if each chip is the exact same size, shape, and weight. Because of the horse heads recessed into the
mold, they are not as smooth as some other chips and have a rougher feel when rubbed together. They seem to stick together
better than any other chip and there seems to be a suction effect between chips. They were the best stacking chips that I was
sent. The weight is good but slightly light.
Unlike most other horse heads, some of these Palmas Club Casino chips have more than three edge spots. While the $25 chip
has only 3 edge spots, the $100 chip has 4 edge spots and the $500 chip has five. There are 3 different colors of $100
chip - black with orange edge spots, black with purple, and black with burnt orange.
These chips have very sharp edges. Keep in mind that these chips will improve with age and the corners will become rounded
with some of the harshness of the chip disappearing. The rolling edges of this chip are speckled with a brass dust, more than
on a usual horse head. There are no edge ridges on this chip.
I was sent five chips. The diameters were 39.54, 39.53, 39.56, 39.60, and 39.52mm. The thickness of 3 chips stacked
together was 9.93mm.
The labels on these chips were well centered. One or two was slightly off but was not noticeable without a
magnifying glass. These chips were manufactured years ago and the overall quality slightly higher than modern-day horse
heads. The labels could not be peeled off with a fingernail but were easy to peel off with a knife. A plastic film covers a
paper label which is glued onto the chip. The label would usually come off in one whole piece. You had to pry at
it pretty good to get the label to come off. This should never be a problem under normal use.
I like horse heads. I have ordered 1,000 custom horse heads for own personal use. I like these Palmas Club Casino horse heads
because they feature unique edge spots that you can't easily obtain elsewhere. These are nice chips! Ace Pokerchips Company offers
what may be the two best poker chips available for the home player - Paulson chips and ASM Horse head chips.

These chips weigh 8 grams without a label and 9 grams with a label.
They are sold by many suppliers under different names and with different labels. They do not have a metal insert.
Because these chips lack a metal insert, they do not have the
ringing sound that a typical 11.5g metal insert composite chip has. They have a much more hollow sound. They sound somewhat
similar to a 7g super diamond type chip but with more of a thud. They do sound lighter than an 11.5g metal insert composite
chip. The chips with labels on them have a deeper sound than the chips without labels on them. The chips with labels are
much more slippery than the chips without labels.
The labels are a vinyl that is similar to the feel of an R.T.
Plastics chip. They could be peeled off with a fingernail in two or three attempts. The label would come off in one piece
and could then be placed back on the chip with little or no damage. The labels could not be scratched with a fingernail
and could barely be scratched with a knife. They hid scratched very well.
There is a small injection mold pimple in the off-colored area of
the center. The pimple could hardly be seen with the eye. and barely felt once you notice it. There is a very faint plus (+)
pattern in the center of one side of the chip. You won't notice it without a magnifying glass.
Each chip has 16 stripes that act as effective edge spots. The
stripes contrast nicely with the chip base color.
I was sent four of these chips. The diameters were 39.49, 39.54, 39.68, and 39.31mm. Three chips stacked together
was 10.38mm thick. The recessed center was 25mm in diameter and about 0.5mm deep.
The colors are a bit faded but are very nice and mellow. It is very difficult to scratch the plastic and the
scratches hid very easily (blended in). I liked the colors and the mellow look of these blank chips but that off-color mark
looks rather weird. The center is recessed so you could add your own labels to these chips.

These chips 8 grams with a label and 7 grams without (although they are not sold without a label). They are sold by many suppliers
under different names and with different labels. They do not have a metal insert. The image to the right is the same chip
with the label removed.
Because these chips lack a metal insert, they do not have the
ringing sound that a typical 11.5g metal insert composite chip has. They have a more hollow sound, but not as hollow as the
blank chip reviewed above. They do sound lighter than an 11.5g metal insert composite chip.
The labels make these chips very slippery and are similar to the
feel of an R.T. Plastics chip. The labels could be peeled off with my fingernail in two or three attempts. The label would
come off in one piece and could then be placed back on the chip with little or no damage. The labels could not be scratched
with a fingernail and could barely be scratched with a knife. They hid scratched very well.
Each chip has 8 stripes that act as effective edge spots. The
stripes contrast nicely with the chip base color. I could not find an injection mold pimple on this chip.
I was sent two samples of these chips. The
diameters were 39.06 and 38.96mm. Two chips stacked together was 6.82mm thick. These chips feel thinner and flatter than other
chips but this is an illusion as the size measurements prove otherwise.
The plastic colors are nice. It is very difficult to scratch the plastic and they hid very easily (blended in).
The Six Stripe is the poker chip used on the Soprano's and has six stripes rather than solid edge spots.
Weighing 7.5 grams, it is lighter than a 11.5 gram composite but sounds better. They sound less metallic and have a
bit of a hollow thud to them. The stripes take the place of edge spots and do an effective job. There are no edge
ridges on this chip. For the money, these chips are an excellent value.
Please
contact me if you would like your chips added to my reviews. You must send me at least one sample of each chip you would
like reviewed. I will not post additional reviews of chips that I have already reviewed on this site.
